THE JEALOUS SOUND - "The Gift Horse"

Dear misunderstood,
When you fight back does it feel good?
Did you manage to forget
'Cause you tried the tourniquet?
Forgive me if I'm gushing

You have no currency to pay,
You have no influence to sway,
Is there nothing that will steer you from this course?

I force your hand to write,
List what you left behind,
Did I force your hand to move like mine?
Will the damage be too much?
Did you ever get enough?
Does the damage make you dangerous?

No currency to pay,
You have no influence to sway,
Is there nothing that will steer you from this course?
And dear, I fear you've killed the gift horse,
Should we all fall to our knees for you?

There's no detail that you sweat,
There's no gold in the sunset,
You're nothing if not fortunate

No currency to pay,
You have no influence to sway,
Is there nothing that will steer you from this course?
And dear, I fear you've killed the gift horse,
Should we all fall to our knees?
Is it everything you want?
Is it everything you need?
It's more than you can stand,
We finally agreed

Dear misunderstood,
Can you fight back?
Does it feel good?
Should we all fall to our knees? (All fall to our knees),
Is it everything you want?
Is it everything you need?
Should we all fall to our knees? (All fall to our knees),
Was it more than you could stand
When we finally agreed?

You have no currency to pay,
You have no influence to sway
And everything you had,
You just gave it all away
Should we all fall to our knees (all fall to our knees, all fall to our knees)
For you?

Weather (140/365)

Weather (140/365) by elawgrrl
Weather (140/365), a photo by elawgrrl on Flickr.

Via Flickr:
Stormy summer afternoons are here...

FRANK TURNER - "Plain Sailing Weather"

Just give me one fine day of plain sailing weather
And I can fuck up anything, anything.
It was a wonderful life when we were together,
And now I've fucked up every little goddamn thing.

Amelie lied to me, this was supposed to be easy.
I found the one damn person to help me fall asleep in the night.
But sleeping gets tiring, and dark reminds me of dying,
And as long as this feeble heart is still beating,
You will find me rushing through every room, switching on all the lights.

The problem with falling in love in late bars
Is that there's always more nights, there's always more bars.
The problem with showing your lover your scars
Is that everybody's lover is covered in scars.

Things got fractious, and I felt faithless,
At that moment just before the dawn when everything falls apart.
But baby I didn't mean it, for things to get desperate.
I let slip my guard, let go of the rudder,
Now we're drifting in the current away from one another.

So give me one fine day of plain sailing weather
And I can fuck up anything, anything.
It was a wonderful life when we were together,
And now I've fucked up every little goddamn thing,
Every little goddamn thing.

I've been skirting round the rim of doing something
Brave, and not just standing, but jumping in,
Of making circles into squares, of laying down
The bare facts like a burden I can't bear.
And I can almost find the words, but I can see the way you'd
Fold your hands, speak my name like a curse
Upon your pretty lips, the pressured white behind your fingertips.

And when you see me for all that I am
I couldn't make mistakes to make a difference any more.
I'd throw myself down on my knees, at your hands,
And beg you for forgiveness for my fuckups and my faults.
And maybe you'd relent and return my hope for our forever,
Lift up your precious hands, and then bring yours and mine together,
So just give me one fine day of plain sailing weather.

LUCERO - "On My Way Downtown"

On my way downtown
Thought you might be around
Come on down, have a drink
Have a round, it's on me
And I said that I would
So yes, ma'am, I'll be good
I'll make up for the days that we lost
Ran away
Come on baby, don't you want to go?
Want to go?
Come on baby, please say so
Say so
I ain't looking for forever
I ain't asking for your hand
I'm just on my way downtown
And I thought I'd take a chance

Come on down for just one drink
When you're around, I'm more of the man I should be
Come on now baby, can't you see?
Can't you see that you're good for me?
Don't you know that you're good for me?

And the last time we drank
I was less than behaved
But I said that I would
I'll make up for old days
Come on baby, don't you want to go?
Want to go?
Come on baby, please say so
Say so

Come on down for just one drink
When you're around, I'm more of the man I should be
Come on now baby, can't you see?
Can't you see that you're good for me?
Don't you know that you're good for me?
Come on, let's go
Come on, let's go
You're good for me, darling
You're good for me, don't you know

On my way downtown
Just waiting for you
Alright
Come on out tonight
Don't you want to go?
Want to go?
Come on out tonight, girl
I've been waiting for you downtown
So why don't you come on down?
Why don't you come around?

Come on baby, don't you want to go?
Want to go?
Come on baby, please say so
Say so
I ain't looking for forever
I ain't asking for your hand
I'm just on my way downtown
And I thought I'd take a chance
Come on baby, don't you want to go?
Want to go?
Come on baby, please say so
Say so
I ain't looking for forever
I ain't asking for your hand
I'm just on my way downtown
And I thought I'd take a chance
That's right

On my way downtown
Just waiting for you

Bridge (137/365), a photo by elawgrrl on Flickr.

Via Flickr:
A gloomy bridge this morning but a bright weekend ahead!

SAMIAM - "The Bridge"

There's this bridge I've got to cross I feel alone. A child down to each side and I can't carry both. The bridge is long we could fall down through holes, water all around; wind, wet and cold. One child insecure displays the confidence he doesn't own, another child, uncertain, looks around and cries for home. My bridge is too unstable and the insecurity is letting go. There's no holding to a crumbling bridge. When all the time is gone in between it tumbles. Time to move along... I toss and turn over and over, trying to dream out anxiety, easy answers to my problems. Keeping a grip on sanity until the sun comes up and my mind's fresh and clean.

GREEN DAY - "Basket Case"

Do you have the time
to listen to me whine
About nothing and everything
all at once
I am one of those
Melodramatic fools
Neurotic to the bone
No doubt about it

Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
Am I just paranoid?
Or I'm just stoned

I went to a shrink
To analyze my dreams
She says it's lack of sex
that's bringing me down
I went to a whore
He said my life's a bore
So quit my whining cause
it's bringing her down

Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
Am I just paranoid?
Uh, yuh, yuh, ya

Grasping to control
So I better hold on

Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
Am I just paranoid?
Or I'm just stoned

Will liberate us definitely

It's not the weather, we've got P.M.A.

We know you can do anything
and no thought withheld from thee
So here I beseech thee
to always request and declare

Don't blow no bubbles
Don't blow no troubles
There's got to be a better way
Don't blow no spikes
Ask Jah and he'll make the change

We know you can do anything
and no thought withheld from thee
So here I beseech thee
to always request and declare

We know you can do anything
and no thought withheld from thee
So here I beseech thee

Don't blow no bubbles (and we can stop the AIDS)
Don't blow no spikes
Don't blow no fudge buns

And only yesterday you thought
You were Peter The Great
With all, all your troops.
And only yesterday you thought
Your name shall be carved in stone.
But how slowly goes the night
For a shy kind of guy
That you have become tonight.
You've never been
In this room of your mind.

And only yesterday you were
Possessed by luck,
And you, you knew no fear,
And your savage wit,
Where did it go?
Where did it disappear?
And how slowly goes the night
For a shy kind of guy
That you have become tonight.
How strange,
How strange to see you cry!

To see you cryyyyyy
To see you cryyyyyy
To see you cryyyyyy

How slowly goes the night
For a shy kind of guy
That you have become tonight.

How strange
How strange to see you cry
To see you cry

TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS - "Magnolia"

From a table across the room
She was signaling me with her eyes
I walked over to be introduced
I said hello, she just smiled
And said I know a place not too far from here
Where we could get away for a while
Yeah, that's when she kissed me and told me her name
I never did tell her mine

Magnolia
I remember the smell of the wind so sweet
Magnolia
And I know that she's out there somewhere in the world
She's forgotten me but I remember her
Magnolia

Well her lips were as warm
As that wet southern night
Her eyes were as black as the sky
And I wondered aloud
Just what I had done right
As I lay there with her by my side
Then she took hold my hand
As she looked up at me
And said now I must tell you goodbye
And there in the moonlight
As I watched her leave
I felt a chill down inside

Magnolia
I remember the smell of the wind so sweet
Magnolia
And I know that she's out there somewhere in the world
She's forgotten me but I remember her
Magnolia

She crossed her arms
And lowered her eyelids

Someday, somebody's gonna ask you
A question that you should say "yes" to
Once in your life
Baby, tonight I've got a question for you

She'd had no idea
And started to cry
She said "in a good way"
He took her by the hand
Walked her back home
And they took the long way

Someday, somebody's gonna ask you
The question that you should say "yes" to
Once in your life
Maybe tonight I've got a question for you

YOUNG LIVERS - "Means Of Buoyancy"

The faces we have worn adrift the seas of acquaintance.
The lies we can't control, smiling as we sink to the bottom.
Tongue tied, we retrace the lines and cross we create.
What's one, what's one more?

The viscous ties initiate.
Conquered, alleviated. Secured in meaning.
Senseless and seething, torn.

A hollow connection we have born.
Misdirection guides us all.

So where's the sense in the sense of community?
The people have all worn lining the depths of the bottom.
All tongue tied we retrace the lines we cross create.
What's one, what's one more?

Because I found the time for hanging out and talking on the phone.
What should I expect, now that my time is free and you're nowhere to be found.

Next time I'll try, for the first time in my life.
It won't pass me by. Procrastinate it can wait, I put it off.
LET'S START TODAY

My room's a mess and I can't get dressed.
I gotta be out by eight o'clock.
Deep inside I know the answer.
Well there's no time like the present and I'd like to hang out but who doesn't.
I've made enough mistakes for this lifetime.
Now I'm here to make amends.

Next time I'll try, for the first time in my life.
It won't pass me by. Procrastinate it can wait, I put it off.

Its all I can see only after I've squandered everything:

That in this doubt, I am free
Endless doubt I am
In this doubt, we are free
Endless doubt we are

FRANK TURNER - "The Road"

To the east, to the east, the road beneath my feet.
To the west, to the west, I haven’t got there yet.
To the north, to the north, never to be caught.
To the south, to the south, my time is running out.
Ever since my childhood I've been scared, I've been afraid,
of being trapped by circumstance, of staying in one place,
and so I always keep a small bag full of clothes carefully stored,
somewhere secret, somewhere safe, somewhere close to the door.
Well I’ve travelled many countries, washed my feet in many seas,
I've drank with grifters in Vienna and with punks in old DC,
and I've driven across deserts,
driven by the irony that only being shackled to the road could ever I be free.
I've felt old before my time
but now I keep the age away by burning up the miles and by filling up my days.
And the nights, a thousand nights I've played, a thousand more to go,
before I take a breath, and steel myself for the next one thousand shows.
So saddle up your horses and keep your powder dry,
because the truth is you won't be here long, soon you're going to die.
So to the heart, to the heart, there's no time for you to waste,
and you won't find your precious answers by staying in one place,
by giving up the chase.
I face the horizon, everywhere I go.
I face the horizon, the horizon is my home.

J CHURCH - "The Track"

January blows through the track,
You're too hot to feel it on your back,
All alone with everyone,
Do you still remember fun?
Tonight the darkness of the 'loin,
You'll need more than a bunch of coins,
She's there for you but not to stay,
You're invisible anyway

I can't hear a thing you say,
(There's a place where we can go)
I can't hear a thing you say,
(Nobody will ever know)
I can't hear a thing you say,
(There's a place where we can go, we are invisible)
I can't hear a thing you say

Loneliness is a part of trust,
Now you give yourself to lust,
If you're looking for love then you're out of luck,
And a blowjob costs you fifty bucks,
Walk around most of the night,
You have to wonder about your life,
The further that you go,
The less you seem to know

I can't hear a thing you say,
(There's a place where we can go)
I can't hear a thing you say,
(Nobody will ever know)
I can't hear a thing you say,
(There's a place where we can go, we are invisible)
I can't hear a thing you say

In broken English, she says to you,
"Hey, I know something we can do,
Do you wanna for a while?"
You wanna believe the smile,
There comes a point when even sex,
Seems empty and irrelevant,
"Can't you stay a while?"

I can't hear a thing you say,
(There's a place where we can go)
I can't hear a thing you say,
(Nobody will ever know)
I can't hear a thing you say,
(There's a place where we can go, we are invisible)
I can't hear a thing you say
