Defiance, Ohio @ Harvest of Hope 2010
The crowd was nuts for Defiance, Ohio... people were overflowing the tent on both sides in the lovely mud. Their too short set concluded with a tentwide singalong to "What did they do with the bodies?" need bigger stage w/ longer set time next time!
Greenland is Melting @ Harvest of Hope 2010
Greenland is Melting packed the tent at Stage 5 - the whole crowd was tapping their toes and bopping their heads. They rocked so hard that Will's upright bass literally exploded mid-set... watch out for flying bass pieces! Check out their record here:

These guys stole the show with enthusiasm, spunk and frequent encouragement of audience participation - including a fun box of noisemakers for the crowd to share and also teaching them how to yell along. Fun!

Look Mexico 2.27.10
Look Mexico shows always bring out a nice crowd who sing along to every word... last night was no exception in spite of it being super cold for an outdoor show!

Only Thieves 2.27.10
Only Thieves are a power pop indie rock trio hailing from TLH. Their new record "Heartless Romantics" is due out Spring 2010 and from the sound of the advance EP is going to be worth picking up. Keep an eye out for these guys!

Somehow I have managed to miss Alexander & The Grapes repetitively since they have been playing out. My loss because these guys are very talented. I can't wait for their record to be done... in the meantime check them out at grapes.bandcamp.com.

Against Me 2.20.10
Against Me are Florida hometown heroes which explains the sound of the entire State Theatre singing "Don't Lose Touch" - pretty amazing experience. Sadly, the pit was nuts so I only shot a few pics from the floor. One of the few times I have wished there was a press walk so mostly shots from the balcony this time... :(

Tim's songs are honest which makes them heartwrenching at times... always come away from his show wanting to readjust a bit...

Ninja Gun is on tour opening for Tim Barry and Against Me. They won over a ton of new fans at The State in St. Pete and not just because they were doling out fun dip!

Fair (45/365)
love the annual Florida State Fair trek with games, fantatic people watching, funnel cake, lemonade & a zillion photo opportunities... how can you go wrong?

Evan Dando of the lemonheads played a solo show on 2.12 at Crowbar in Tampa... I used to be really into the lemonheads in highschool. I remember flying home to Dublin playing their records on repeat on my trusty discman. So while it probably shouldn't have been a surprise that I remembered the words to most of the songs, it kinda was to me. It was awesome how many of my music snob friends were also there singing along. good stuff.
I'm just trying to give myself a reason for being around...
